KayakMorris is not just another rental place. WE utilize paddling as a vector for teaching kids of all ages about the outdoors. Our tours/trips are educational journeys to teach kids and adults about our natural resources and how we may preserve them for generations to come. Our trips will teach you about wildlife/plantlife of past and present and show how each of us may contribute to that preservation. We teach utilizing fossils, rope(teaching mariners knots), Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources Posters, flash cards of our state symbols and experiential learning tools(catch&release fish, minnows, mussels, etc.).
Whether it's a leisurely paddle( kayak or canoe ) or a muscle pumping pedal(or Both!), we offer unique kayak canoe rentals and kayak canoe tours to fit all of your needs. We are a short 35 minute drive from most suburbs and offer an escape from the stress of the city. Explore all of the natural beauty and historic charm that Morris has to offer and see the city from a different angle. WE are located right on the Sandy Beaches of the Illinois River/Mazon River. Our location is also right next to the I & M Canal in Morris where they parallel each other only 75 yards apart as they pass through the city of Morris. Explore what was once a bustling transportation hub and is now a tranquil canal from the comforts of a kayak or a canoe. The Canal also has a crushed limestone towpath that was once travelled by mules to pull barges and is now a multipurpose recreational path 62 miles long unimpeded by motorized traffic and perfect for biking. If adventure is in your game, rent a kayak or canoe and tour the Illinois River. The Illinois River is a slow flowing river(<1mph) and offers a 24 mile stretch of the river to paddle(with ease in either direction) with NO lowhead Dams! The Illinois River offers an abundance of wildlife to explore and sandy beaches to picnic or relax on. Sugar Island(1.5 mile long island), is just a short paddle (kayak / canoe ) from our location and is inhabited by many wild and beautiful coyotes. The confluence of the Mazon River, is right across from our location in William G. Stratton Park and is home to 3 natural Great Blue Heron Rookeries and many fossils! One could spend hours venturing, exploring and seeing BALD eagles, Belted Kingfishers, leatherback turtles, blue wing teal, Coyotes, Great American White Pelicans, Wild Turkey, deer, Red Tailed Hawks, Black headed Grosbeaks, loons, great blue herons and egrets. Kayak or Canoe. It's up to you. Kayak Illinois or Canoe Illinois
