STARVED ROCK GUIDED KAYAK TOUR

 

COME KAYAK AT THE #1 STATE PARK IN THE MIDWEST REGION WITH 18 DEEP WATER CANYONS AND TOWERING ST PETERS SANDSTONE BLUFFS

This trip is not to be missed! If you have been to this wonderful state park you know how beautiful it is.  With its majestic St. Peters sandstone bluffs towering over the Illinois river to the canyons carved out deep along the shore line this state park has been consistently rated #1 in Illinois. 
For this trip we will be kayaking for approx. 2.5-3 hours.  We will kayak back into  Illinois canyon(water level dependent).  The views from the water are amazing!    Wear water shoes(no flip flops).  We will launch from lone point shelter, which has plenty of parking.  This is an out and back trip which means we will be returning to our starting point.  No shuttle is needed.

I-39 Southbound – South to I-80 east (exit #59.)  Go 2 miles to exit #81 (Rt. 178, Utica).  Go south (right) 4 miles on Rt. 178 to Rt.71.  Turn left on Rt.71 and travel 5 miles to the east end of Starved Rock State Park.  Follow sign to Lone Point Shelter.

I-39 Northbound – North to exit #48 (Tonica exit).  Go east (right) for approximately 5 miles to the T intersection, which is Rt. 178.  Go north (left) for approximately 5 miles to the intersection of Rt. 178 & Rt. 71.  Turn right on Rt. 71 and travel 5 miles to the east end of Starved Rock State Park.  Follow sign to Lone Point Shelter.

I – 80 Eastbound & Westbound – Get off at exit #81 (Rt.178, Utica).  Go south 4 miles on Rt.178 to Rt. 71.  Turn left on Rt. 71 and travel 5 miles to the east end of Starved Rock State Park.  Follow sign to Lone Point Shelter.

From Chicago area – Take I-294 or I-355 south to I-55.  Take I-55 to I-80.  Go west on I-80, 45 miles to exit #81 (Rt.178, Utica).  Go south (left) 4 miles on Rt. 178 to Rt. 71.  Turn left on Rt.71 and travel 5 miles to east end of park.  Follow sign to Lone Point Shelter.

Gr8 for Beginners and family friendly(all ages)(we have life jackets for 0lbs and up)!!!!

This kayak tour is a great way to introduce you to the sport of Kayaking!

If you have never kayaked before try our 2 hour guided tour.  It is a great way to informally introduce you to the sport of kayaking. Our kayak tours maintain a leisurely pace.  We will take a short break along the way to enjoy nature and rehydrate/refuel.  Bring plenty of water/a light snack.   We maintain a very small group size so it is advised to make a reservation ahead of time.  All tours include Single or Tandem(holds up to 3ppl/3rd must weigh less than 60lbs) kayak, life vest, paddle, land based kayak lesson, and safety briefing.
Please bring water, snack, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, and a towel/change of clothes to make your trip more enjoyable.

Our kayak tours maintain a leisurely pace.  We will take a short break along the way to enjoy nature and rehydrate/refuel.  Bring plenty of water/a light snack.   We maintain a very small group size so it is advised to make a reservation ahead of time.  All tours include Single or Tandem(holds up to 3ppl/3rd must weigh less than 60lbs) kayak, life vest, paddle, land based kayak lesson, and safety briefing.
Please bring water, snack, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, and a towel/change of clothes to make your trip more enjoyable.

Please leave all your valuables at home!  We are not responsible for lost stolen or damaged personal property. Please keep your camera/phone in a drybag or double ziploc bag(not guaranteed waterproof, but it helps)
