GONIL welcomes all to our
First Float and Glampout weekend
July 11, 2015.
Where: Kayak Morris, and feature a kayak float Trip(includes a Pontoon boat ride upstream)
that will be followed by a “Glampout”.
This is a Rain or Shine Event!
GONIL welcomes all to join us in our first ever kayak float trip and campout! Enjoy a relaxing 8mi kayak float on the beautiful Illinois River, with a supplied tandem kayak (No single kayaks available, so grab a partner or post a note that you’re looking for one). We will be brought upstream, in groups of 10-12 at a time, on a 30’ pontoon boat, to a drop off point to start our trip. The pontoon boat will depart roughly every 45min-hour, so unfortunately we will not all be starting at the same time. If you want to be partnered up with other cachers specifically, please note that on your “will attend” log.
The float ends back at Kayak Morris where you can then relax at an amazing sandy beach for our camp out. This isn’t your ordinary camp out…c’mon, this is GONIL! This is a “GLAMPOUT”!
What’s a Glamppout? A glampout is shorthand for luxurious or Glamorous camping. Kayak Morris will supply just about everything, so you can show up and join in on the fun. Here’s what’s included at the glampsite:
- FREE campfire
- FREE plates, cups, utensils, napkins, etc.
- FREE ice water (just bring a water bottle) and powdered drink mix packets
- FREE use of coleman propane grills, grill baskets, etc.
- FREE movie under the stars on a 110” screen and popcorn
- FREE hot breakfast the next morning including eggs, pancakes, sausage or bacon, and hot Starbucks coffee
- OPTIONAL tent rental available (first come, first served!) That INCLUDES setup and takedown!!!
We will have a potluck meal after kayaking, so everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share. Stay tuned to see who’s bringing what.
What if you don’t want to kayak? You can still come out and enjoy “glamping”, including the potluck, movie and breakfast.
What if you don’t want to kayak nor glamp”, but just hang out for the day? The area is adjacent to the I&M Canal Trail, perfect for biking, walking, and geocaching! Also the city of Morris has attractions and more geocaching!
