We offer high end kayaks for rentals. Our rentals includes single kayaks made by Perception. They are the Carolina model in lengths of 12 foot and 14 foot. Single Kayaks can hold up to 275 pounds, however that includes total capacity of cargo and person. If you are nearing 225 pounds it may be wise to rent a tandem kayak to paddle solo.
Tandem Kayaks-bring children and/or your dog
Tandem kayaks are very versatile as they have two seats onboard. One of the seats can be moved to the middle of the kayak and then it can be paddled solo as a quasi single kayak. This is beneficial if the paddler is 225 pounds or greater. It is also beneficial if the paddler also wants to use the kayak rental to fish from. The tandem kayak rental can hold up to 550 pounds including cargo and persons. Tandem kayaks can hold all of your fishing tackle and more. Tandem Kayaks hold up to 3 people if the third person is 70 pounds or less. There are two seats in a tandem kayak, the third passenger is a non paddling passenger or dog(<40lbs) and sits on the bottom of the kayak on a pad in between the two paddling passengers. A dog larger than 40lbs can ride as a 2nd passenger in a tandem kayak. We do not provide life jackets for dogs so you may bring your own. A waiver must be signed for each person and dog that utilizes our rentals.
We have rental periods of up to 2, 4 or 8 hours and are open 7 days a week throughout the summer. Our most popular location is Kayak Starved Rock Campground. Kayak Rentals are available April through Late October. All Rentals come with Kayak, paddle, Personal floatation device(Life Jacket) and Land Based Safety and instructional lesson.
